Solid carbide deep-hole drilling

Choose a deep-hole drill by matching the hole diameter and depth to the machine setup. DELEVEL lists standard series from 8D to 30D; check the dimensions and coolant configuration for the selected series.

01

Describe the feature

Specify the finished diameter and hole depth. Include whether the hole is blind or through, and show any cross-holes, angled entries or interrupted exits on the drawing.

02

Check the listed dimensions

Match the diameter to a specific series and size row. Check flute length, shank and overall length together; flute length alone does not establish the usable drilling depth.

03

Review the setup

Provide the workpiece material, holder, available reach and coolant arrangement. Pilot-hole preparation and the drilling cycle need to be agreed for the selected tool and application.

Standard series for longer holes

The catalogue lists the following 8D–30D series. Use the full size rows to match a particular diameter and tool length.

Catalogue ranges · all dimensions in millimetres
SeriesDiameter (mm)Shank (mm)Overall length (mm)
8DΦ3–126–1280–163
12DΦ3–126–1292–206
16DΦ3–166–16100–340
20DΦ3–166–16107–404
25DΦ3–126–12127–373
30DΦ3–126–12140–415

A range does not imply that every intermediate size is listed. Check the diameter bands in the full tables on pages 7–8.

Internal coolant is specified for the 8D and 12D series. For longer series, include your coolant requirements in the enquiry so the tool configuration can be confirmed.

Information to send with your enquiry

  • Workpiece material and hardness, plus the hole drawing.
  • Finished hole diameter, depth, blind or through condition, and entry or exit details.
  • Dimensional tolerance, position or straightness requirements, and surface finish.
  • Machine, spindle interface, holder, available reach and coolant equipment.
  • Batch quantity and any current tool or process constraints.

For small-diameter work, see the micro drill series. Check the diameter and depth combination within the selected family.

Discuss the hole before specifying the tool

Send the drawing and machine conditions so the series, dimensions and configuration can be reviewed together.
